There are important
differences in residency requirements and stipend for the studentships
available. Applicants should take special note of the eligibility
requirements below.
Eligibility
Wellcome Trust Funded PhD studentships
Academic qualifications
All applicants will be required to
satisfy standard UCL academic
and English
language entry criteria, including minimum upper-second class (2.1)
honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant subject.
Residence eligibility
Overseas applicants may apply but should note that they are eligible
only to receive the maintenance stipend and tuition fees paid at the
home/EU rate. Such applicants will therefore have to fund the
difference in fees between the home/EU rate and the overseas rate (a
difference of £15,850 per annum for the academic year 2012/13).
Wellcome Trust studentship award details
Successful applicants will receive a 4-year Wellcome Trust PhD studentship including a tax-free
maintenance stipend of £22,278 per annum (2012/13 rate) and
tuition fees paid in full at the home/EU rate.
